No good tx.: When the patient is not a candidate for any revascularization ( bypass, stents, endarterectomy' etc.) the only treatment left is amputation of the affected area. Hyperbaric oxygen may delay the process. Leeches may improve the microscopic circulation up to a point

Exacerbation: Even when a patient is on "all the right medications"; the underlying lung disease can cause inflammation and lower the pulse oximetry readings (known as a COPD exacerbation).  Most of the time the exacerbation will resolve over the course of 5-7 days but sometimes more powerful medications given intravenously (like steroids & antibiotics) are necessary.

Difficult: If the patient is not able to tolerate any anti-depressant medication the only other option available is counseling / psychotherapy.  Chronic illness like those listed in the PMH can definitely cause or worsen depression symptoms - getting those health problems under control will help.  Addressing diet and sleep issues will also be helpful.

Correct: Vegetables such as kale, spinach, turnip greens, broccoli, parsley, collard greens, Brussels sprouts and chard should not be eaten in large amounts due to their high content of vitamin K – a nutrient that can interfere with the effectiveness of your blood-thinning medication. Alcohol and cranberry juice should be avoided also. Good luck

This is something best done by meeting with your primary care physician or a consultant who uses clinical judgement that they get from thier training, experience, clinical practice guidelines, and hospital specific admission criteria.  There may also be controls or policies from your insurance company on this.

Hospital security!: Hi. Get hospital security and the police involved immediately if a patient becomes violent or threatens you with violence! Be escorted to and from your car. Please take all precautions. I would not count on books or websites. You sound like you need protection. Violent people can make life miserable for good people. Be safe.

So the short answer:  Infections, sheer cold temperature, anemia/ low blood volume, seizure disorder, Parkinson's, Essential Tremor, electrolyte disturbances, low functioning adrenal glands, medication side effect, severe anxiety, anticipation of the next tray of hospital food that hits the room in 10 minutes....

Day(s): When performed laparoscopically, many people can go home in 1-2 days; if the appendix was ruptured, the hospital stay is often 3-4 days.  When performed via the open technique, this length of stay is almost-doubled.

Family practice : They will not refuse to treat you. But if able to be treated as an outpatient they may do what is necessary and then refer you to a county clinic for follow up care. You will be admitted if needed. You will be responsible for any charges but many times you will be able to negotiate with the hospital on the bill.

please help! what if a patient is in surgery when a sudden evacuation of a hospital happens?

The patient : Is not abandoned.  Many patients can have their surgeries shortened or interrupted.  They are covered with sterile dressings, transferred to gurney and removed from the hospital as quickly as possible with oxygen, IV fluids, drugs in tow.  We practice emergency evacuation from the OR couple times a year, along with fire drills. No one is left behind.
