can you answer, is a bad cough a symptom of pnemonia or mono?

Yes/No: Cough is a symptom of many causes including pneumonia, whooping cough, bronchitis, influenza and other viral respiratory infections, due to toxic chemical or some prescribed drug exposures, tb, lung cancer etc.  
Cough is not a symptom of mononucleosis.

dec mono, absolute was high .71 all other was normal. last week it was 1.02 all else was normal only symptom is an ongoing cough. x-rays normal. im in between drs so i have to wait 3 more weeks to see the new one. what could be causing this. thanks?

Also always put normal values for your lab.

just saw doctor for whooping cough symptoms. he prescribed doxy-cycl mono 100mg & methylprednis 4mg. sent me for xray. no lab work or nose swab-why?

Why no bloodwork for whooping cough?: Many times, whooping cough is a clinical diagnosis. That means that the doctor can tell that the diagnosis is whooping cough by what the patient explains to them. For example, the characteristic type of cough and the vomiting after the cough. Another clue may be that the cough lasts for three weeks or more. The lab testing can sometimes be very expensive and few labs do it. It is in the patient's best interest to just treat when the diagnosis is suspected.

i have mono and my cough is getting worse. should i be concerned?

Mono: You could be developing superimposed bacterial infection as well since you have lowered immunity status with mono. See your pcp.

can i take mucinex post mono im having some drainage and now a slight cough ?

YES: Mucinex is a very effective expectorant/cough syrup, but long acting. If cough is intermittent,.use Robitussin DM or generic equivalent  Dark brown honey is an excellent cough suppressant.

Side effects: Try stopping the medicine, in a few days you should feel better if the medicine was the cause.  Feel better.

Don't think is mono: If it was mono, your most prominent symptoms would be fatigue, sore throat, difficulty swallowing and very swollen neck glands. You did not mention any of those.
How do you know you have an enlarged spleen?
Now, any difficulty breathing is of concern, since it can go from mild to bad to worse any minute- allergy, asthma?
Get medical attention for that breathing problem!

Bring with you a chronological list of each and every symptom you have experienced and provide a full history and allow a physical exam and possibly some laboratory testing. Could you be pregnant? for about a year now i will get this pain in my throat that feels almost like a tear and it causes me to cough for awhile until it subsides. what could this be? i used to a moke cigarettes but quit, and i dont have tonsils or mono.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by an ENT doctor. 
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

i had fever in 5march for 2 weeks then cough for 1 months & not sore throat .in 16 april blood test was mono positive.can it show another disease than?

Mono can present as: Mono is caused by virus's-either Ebstein Barr or Ctomegalo Virus. They both can cause sore throat, fatigue, and cough. if you are still having cough, i would suggest getting that looked at again as there may be other things. Mono can and usually does suppress your immune system which can lead to other bacteria or viruses taking opportunities to flare and cause issues.
