my cellulitis abscess was drained a week ago and now the wound is scabbing over. is this normal for a cellulitis abscess?

Yes: What you describe sounds like normal healing for a drained abscess. Your triple antibiotic treatment was over kill.  Clindamycin alone or Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and Keflex together would have been sufficient.

Cold sores: Cold sores usually resolve in 7 to 10 days when no intervention is used. 
Here is the problem - the herpes virus can still be shed even when there are no active lesions.

3 yo has scrape. started out light and it's getting darker red around and scabbing over yellowish red. using abx ointment. is this normal healing?

Healing : It could be normal and not necessarily due to an infection, though if your child is picking and scratching at it, she could be introducing bacteria into the wound. Best to continue a topical antibiotic for  prevention. If it gets more red esp if spreading and there is pus draining from it, there may be a need for an oral antibiotic. You may clean it daily with hydrogen peroxide to disinfect it.

i have a sore on my leg that has been there since 2005 and won't heal. just keeps scabbing over. possibilities?
