: If it wasn't a fully excisional skin biopsy with tight sutures in place &amp; was without complications, it shouldn't hurt more than a few days. If it does, have the MD who performed the procedure examine the biopsy site.

: At the age of 19 with the mole present either since childhood or teenage,  expect the colour change that you describe to be very normal and not a sign at all of a potential malignant mole melanoma.

NO: any changing mole must be seen and evaluated by a dermatologist: never ignore these changes.

Moles: Some moles have a deeper component that may be represented by a returning raised portion or pigment (darker color) . A dermatologist can examine these areas to discuss the diagnosis and offer treatment if needed.

Probably OK...: ...but why were you messing with it?  Moles should be left alone.  If it is itching, painful, or increasing in size, shape or color, you should be checked for melanoma.  If it is in an area that is constantly being irritated, for example bra strap or panty line, ask to have it removed.  Good luck!

While moles evolve over time, if this one is asymmetric, the border is irregular, the color is not uniform, if the diameter is &gt; 6 mm (the size of a pencil eraser), or it is evolving or changing over time, you should be evaluated by a medical professional. i have noticed that a new small mole has formed on my forehead. it looks like a normal mole and isn't 'bumpy', although i feel a bit worried.

Watch and wait: Observe the mole every couple of weeks, if it doubles in size, becomes irregular, changes color, ulcerates, bleeds or becomes nodular, see a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i picked at my mole and like scratch a bit off. not because it hurt/itched but because i just wanted to i guess. anyways, now the mole has a cut, and is like purple pink in color. is that normal? i also cant afford a doctor right now. so help?

: I think what you’re asking is whether scratching a mole (nevus) can cause it to turn into a melanoma. While there are many reasons not pick or scratch at them (infection, for example) malignant transformation is not one of them. If it was a nevus before you scratched it, it is almost certainly still a nevus.

i had a red mole on my neck and scraped it open a week ago & now it is puffed up and hurts, it feels like a scab. is this normal?

Irritated mole: Its very possible that a mole or benign lesion can get irritated and scratched off. If it is gone, monitor for recurrence. If it grows back get it evaluated by a dermatologist. For now, do some wound care with plain petroleum jelly ointment 2/day. If it gets worse ir you are worried about an infection, see your dr.
