what is the best over-the-counter moisturizer for eyelid eczema ?

Many options.: There are many options for moisturizing your skin.  I like to have my patients use coconut oil as a moisturizer.  It usually works great and is usually not irritating the the skin or eye.  good luck!

Moisturizer: Moisturizer is useful.  Do not scrub your lids too often and hard with cleaners as this removes protective oils.  Consider also that you might have tear overflow which causes some skin dryness in that area like chapped lips.

is it safe to put sunscreen and moisturizer around my eyes (specifically my eyelids)?

Accepted Answer

: Test the products first on areas of regular skin. A glob of product on the pad of a BANDAID left overnight is a simple but good test of whether your body will react with a rash or other effect. If it produces no response to regular skin, a few hours on the sensitive skin of the lids should be well tolerated.

what can be causing the skin on my eyebrows and eyelid to itch sometimes? i also noticed a small dry patch on brow bone. moisturizer makes it worse.

Seborrhea: Use dilute Head and Shoulders Shampoo or Selsun/Nizoral shampoo. Stop all other medications.Lotrimin (clotrimazole) AF is also effective.

my skin has been dry lately. i use moisturizer on my face but the skin around my eyes has been getting dry and irritated too. i tried vaseline but it didnt help?

can naphcon be used as an eye lubricant or moisturizer?

Not really: These drops are vaso-constrictors that constrict the blood vessels on the surface of the eye.  They should only be used for a short time.  Long term usage can cause rebound vaso-congestion which results in worsening redness in the eyes when the drop is not used.  Using it more than a few times a day for a few weeks is likely too long.  Artifical tears are better for a lubricant.

Eye make up: It may be due to an allergy to eye make up. Try going a few days without any make-up. You may consult a beautician for hypoallergenic make up, if you must use it. If that does not help, it would be prudent to see a dermatologist.

Start with tears: For dry eyes, it would be best to start with artificial tears.  There are many brands to choose from including systane, refresh, genteal, blink, etc.  For sensitive eyes, preservative free artificial tears can also be used.

Try a new bottle: Try a new bottle- this one may have something foreign in it. If that doesn't work, you may have developed a sensitivity and need to switch.

is it ok if i use a mild face moisturizer under my eyes instead of an eye cream?

Accepted Answer

No problem: Eye cream is formulated so that it will not sting to much it if gets into the eye but it contains the same type of ingredients as facial moisturizers.  So you can substiute the cheaper facial moisturizer for this purpose with no risk to the eyes and generally good effects.
