Circ: Odds are he'll be just fine.  There are plenty of sensory nerves in the penis.  "loss" of sensation implies a change, but he won't have anything to compare it to.  This concept is really about adult circumcision.

how can i tell if too much skin was taken off my son during his circumcision? the circ scar is halway down his shaft. he was done with the mogen clamp

Ask for a referral : To a urologist if  you're concerned about the appearance. The mogen's been around since 1954. There were some issues about damage to the glans penis because it doesn't allow visualization, but not about over-stretching the foreskin. As long as it doesn't cause a painful erection & the anatomy of the genitalia is normal, i can't think how it can hurt him. I'd like to know what you find out.

Common after Mogen: Scar line after a mogen clamp circumcision tends to be further torards base of penis than after gomco clamp, plastibell or "sleeve resection" circumcision. Should not be a problem unless penis curves downward with erection. Can be corrected by penoplasty if too much skin was removed. Fortunately this is rarely case. Consult pediatric urologist if u r still concerned.

Maybe not.: First, you might want to just ask your pediatrician to take a look and explain what you are looking at.  They can provide helpful information about what is normal after a circumcision and what to expect.  If you have questions about the procedure, you could always check with your doctor that did the procedure.

Circumcision: Think of it this way, as we are removing the foreskin with the Mogen Clamp, we have to pick where we are going to make the incision, right?  We can take off "not enough" skin or we can take off "too much" skin, depending on your perspective. Most babies now with this procedure have a little bit of foreskin left at the base, as you mention.  Enjoy your baby!

Need a picture: to judge, at any rate under-  is better than over-correction, if in doubt ask a urologist to have a look, so long he is passing urine, no urgency, you can observe

Yes ; possibly yes: Mogen clamp leaves more inner foreskin  because technique requires pulling freed foreskin over glans penis ; applying clamp beyond tip f glans thus avoiding glans injury. Thus length of inner foreskin remaining is marginally longer than length of baby's glans. Scar halfway down penis could mean that excess outer shaft skin was removed at circumcision, which circumcision technique  was used.

As needed.: You need to fill bladder to get optimal contraction.  It depends on fluid intake and severity.  Obviously these times differ between patients, so no specific time can be given!

Accepted Answer

No clamps: If you are referring to a tubal ligation, no clamps are left inside of the pelvis. The Fallopian tubes are first clamped, then cut and cauterized. I am not sure why you think clamps were left inside of you?

IVF an Option: In vitro fertilization (ivf) is an option, but this is very expensive without insurance.  An ivf procedure is more likely to allow a pregnancy than an attempt at a reversal of a tubal ligation which is not that successful and is also costly and a surgical procedure with more risks, etc.  Best wishes.
