im low fiber or bland diet for my diverticulitis. i had one small yogurt, half turkey sandwich, and plain mashed potatoes yesterday. i only pooped once today small piece . can this diet cause less stool or consipation? should i take stool softener?

: Yes it can . Try exercise, plenty of fluids and the stool softner if you have hard stools or feel constipated. Get your doc to give a diet plan of what you can eat and what o avoid. Good liuck.

An ongoing problem: GERD is not necessarily curable.  It can come and go.  Alcohol, caffeine can make it worse.

See below: Increase fiber intake to 35 grams/day. Prunes and other dried fruit like apricots are natural laxatives and helpful. Drink an extra 4 glasses of water daily. Consult your doctor

Marginal benefit.: Realize that medications don't stop the damaging refluxate, but merely make it so that you can't feel the burning of an acidic refluxate.  Lifestyle measures, including the dietary recommendations, will reduce the amount of the refluxate, which is better in the long term.

is it bad that i need to take femotidine daily for acid reflux (felt in neck) despite a bland diet?  good news is one 10mg tab relieves all symptoms.

DGL is used to: help with acid reflux and is safe.  If you take licorice that is not DGL, over time it can raise your blood pressure.  Please consult w/your doc.  Peace and good health.  Glad to hear your medication helps.  Please don't make any changes w/out consulting him/her.

i have a ulcer and already taking meds for 1 week and on bland diet but i'm getting a lil chills is that normal?

See your doctor...: It's hard for me to know what's going on completely without your medical record and examining you in person. When you say ulcer, I assume you mean a peptic ulcer in the stomach/small intestine. There are a few types that are treated differently. Chills may represent either an infection or allergy to the meds you are taking. You should go back to your treating doctor to discuss these new symptoms.

i had gallbladder surgery 4 days ago. doing very well. tired of bland diet, what can i eat? i'm afraid to eat anything not bland!

Anything, but...: Beware. Any food with oils, fats, or dairy may cause cramping and / or diarrhea. None of these will hurt your body, you just may not feel so well. As for bland diets, there is no reason that what you eat can't be flavorful. Spices and seasonings have nothing to do with bile and its functions.
