Irregular period.: Don't worry!  It is not unusual for young women to have irregular or miss an occasional period. . Many things can cause the period to be late such as medicines, stress etc.  Some ladies never have regular periods.  This has a lot to do with family history. Continue to record the dates of your menstrual periods.  This will give a good picture of your menstrual status.

went to er. not pregnant but missed period twice. was diagnosed with gerd and have been given pepcid (famotidine). does it have affect on menstrual cycle? and uti?

Not known to do so.: Pepcid (famotidine) or any PPI is not known to affect menstrual cycles or interact with other medications that do.  I am also not aware of them being associated with increase risk of UTIs.  I would look into other medications that you may be taking and definitely follow up with your OB/GYN for further evaluation.

Some women feel normal after a few days, but others have bothersome symptoms and follow-up with a doctor. A pregnancy test is accurate by 1 week after a missed period, if worried about pregnancy.

If you miss x 3 get it checked -unless symptomatic.Reasons for missed / late period include: an anovulatory cycle in which no egg is released, marked v or ^ in weight; eating disorder; over-exercising (endurance athletics), travel, significant illnesses, oral contraceptives ; other meds, illegal drug use, breast feeding, hormone imbalances and medical problems (i.e., pcos).

Reassurance : Unfortunately irregularities of period can happen through the life. This is many reason for this. For example: stress or strenuous exercises , environmental changes can  cause this. If it longer than 3 month you need to consult with doctor.

Amenorrhea: Yes. But there are common reasons females miss their periods or do not ovulate.  Birth control or other hormones; being sick, being obese, extreme dieting, too much exercise.  These are some of the common reasons for missed periods.  Do you talk to your girlfriends about this stuff?

Some thoughts...: Pregnancy is a common cause of a missed period. If not pregnant, other causes of a late or missed period include:  excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (especially birth control pills), hormonal disorders, etc…  a visit to one’s Ob-Gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.
