Needs further eval: If you took the progesterone for 5 days without a period, you need to go back to your physician for further testing.  There could be an estrogen deficit or a uterine problem that is causing you not to have an episode of bleeding.

Needs Ob/Gyn: Periods are controlled by a normal 28 day rhythm that is a function of the lower brain. Commonest cause is related to poor diet since that affects the cycle but a pelvic examination is a good idea.

Relax: Physical illness can cause you to miss your period, followed by spotting.  If it has been at least two weeks since you had unprotected sex, then a urine pregnancy test should be accurate.  If it is negative, relax and see your clinician to start an effective method of contraception.

An early miscarr: Possible u had an unsuccessful early spontaneous ab, or just excessive tissue , a + blood test would confirm the 1st one, u get a quant b-hcg and a progesterone, if + b-hcg then u get another one 3 days later to see if it goes up or down, if a normal pg it should double, if an early missed it should be going down, so see your obgyn to find out.

Normal cycles come every 21-35 days.: If  blood comes out of your vagina in a different pattern then your cycles are not normal. If this is one time problem it may resolves on its own. If  recurring then you should be evaluated. Infections &  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options to regulate the cycle.

Pregnancy: Take a pregnancy test. Blood sometimes is seen as a brown discharge.  Nearly half of all pregnancies bleed in the first trimester.  Some women actually mistake this as their menses.  If the test is negative, and you still don't  start your period, you should see your doctor for further eval.   Other possible causes could be infection,  hormonal imbalances, fibroids, polyps, and cancer.
