Possibly: Plan b is a hormone and it will cause bleeding and cramping for weeks afterwards. You should have a pelvic exam by your doctor this week to make sure there is no infection or other complication.

i had unprotected sex while ovulating, i took plan b about 30 hours later. i also had the mirena (levonorgestrel) iud inserted 2 days later. should i be worried?

Unlikely Pregnant: Plan B can work in one of three ways depending on where you are in your cycle. It can prevent or delay ovulation, can interfere with the fertilization of the egg or may prevent implantation by altering the lining of the uterus. If you take Plan B One-Step within 24 hours, it is about 95% effective. The mirena (levonorgestrel) really won't have an effect on this unprotected encounter.

i took plan b 6 days ago, still bloating and cramping. i also had the mirena (levonorgestrel) inserted 4 days ago. is this normal?

Yes: Plan B can cause bloating and cramping. Mirena (levonorgestrel) can also do the same. Please take some Ibuprofen, it should help. The bloating and cramping should subside in a few weeks.

Probably not, but: The manufacturer says that when it's inserted during the menstrual cycle it should be effective immediately (because it would usually be at least a week or more until you would ovulate) - if it's inserted at some time other than with menses, it is supposed to be effective w/in 7 days, so you are on the border. The Plan B was good, but you need to check preg test, b/c ectopic is high risk if conceiv.

Plan B: Plan "B" should be taken as soon as possible after sex. Your timing is good. As for mirena (levonorgestrel) it is a hormone releasing IUD. When first placed it may affect your period. With time the side effects should go away. If the don't you may want to change it to a different one.

Not sure that I: understand the time line. Plan B is up to 95% effective if taken within 24 hours. It is recommended that it be taken within 72 hours. There is a  decreasing level of protection up to 5 days out.

should i use plan b? i was on a 3 day course of bactrim and had sex and the condom broke. i am on ortho tri cyclen lo for 7 years.  i am concerned that the bactrim may have effected my bc pill. should i take  plan b?

Plan B: If the condom was unreliable and broke, would take plan B as precaution, especially with Bactrim use during the time frame.

Yes: Plan b is safe and effective - it works over 85% of the time if used within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex and about 80% if used within 120 hours (5 days).  There are few complications, but there are side effects occasionally, like nausea and headache.

Plan b: I'm not sure i can fully answer this question but i will do my best. If you aren't on any form on birth control and you have taken Plan B once then you are fine, it becomes a problem when you rely on Plan B and take it multiple times within a few months. At that point i  would recommend talking to a doctor about birth control pills and other methods otherwise it is safe from the situation i listed.

Efficacy of Plan B: Plan B pills contain a high dose of the active ingredient Levonorgestrel, which is a second generation progestin.  Progestins, just like natural Progesterone cause the uterine endometrium to slough thus causing a period.  It works mainly by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary.
It is possible that it may also work by preventing fertilization of an egg and its attachment to the uterus.
