Here are some...: Milking prostate or called prostate massage has become less often done, usually by urologists through DRE (digital rectal examination). It would be very hard for the patients by themselves correctly. In practice, I have never done DRE for prostate massage except very occasionally requested by patients since I am no a believer or fan for this practice.

No damage: It would not cause more damage. There could be an obstruction, and if pain gets worse, may need more workup and I assume you had an ultrasound already done.

I : I am  not sure why are you doing that? In general prostate massage is reserved for patient with chronic prostatitis. The amount of fluid is dependent on how congested the prostate is. If one has not ejaculated for a while, you will have more fluid.

Yes, but...: Some topical irritation and frequent voiding after prostate milking / massage may happen, but usually resolve back to where you're in 1-3 days. But, don't milk or massage prostate at any given time suspecting acute prostatitis. Yet, nowadays, prostate milking/massage has become less and less done. To me, I have never done it for decades except for rare occasion to make "real"  diagnosis of prost..

No: There is no situation in which a doctor will milk the prostrate. However, the doctor may check the prostate if there is a risk of prostate cancer or enlargement. As you age your risk increases.

Many doubts here: Physicians disagree about risks of milk drinking. There's no scientific consensus and there's plenty of bad work / unreproduced results. The major studies i've seen have not supported these claims of risk. The prostate cancer link was popularized as an act of malice against mayor giuliani. In a 2004 nz study, milkless kids have 3x the bone fracture rate. Do your own thinking.

Give it up: When referring to the prostate, I would say milking and massage are synonymous.

my husband has these prostate flares that come out of nowhere and cause him tremendous pain. the can last several hours and he has to double over. any ideas?

PELVIC PAIN=GET SEEN: Recurrent, severe pelvic pain may be a sign of kidney stone disease or other diagnoses (e.g. Tenesmus=rectal spasms).  You should get seen for work-up which may include urinalysis, lab tests and possible scans. A urology consult may help sort out the diagnosis. He may also need a colonoscopy by G.I. Doctor (to exclude colitis).  Hope he is better soon!
