what is the best treatment for mild scoliosis that causes lower back pain? would bracing be helpful? any other suggestions?

Exercise: The best thing you can do is exercise to keep your back muscles as strong as possible. I suggest you go to a good physical therapist to teach you the appropriate exercises

i have recently diagnose if mild scoliosis. and i sometimes have a back pain. can i still go to the gym and lift weights that i can manage?

No reason not to: Depends on the extent of the scoliosis and your age. You can discuss this with your physiciasn and if necessary see a  scoliosis expert. Many people have mild scolisois and it causes  them no problems.

Many Possibilities: Given that this has been going on for so long, i would consider an evaluation by a spine specialist.  Sometimes it could be a muscle imbalance, early onset arthritis or scoliosis.  Also could be a pinched nerve/herniated disc.  Either way it might be good to figure it out and get appropriate treatment.

my daughter has been dx'd as having mild scoliosis by gp. is this a painful condition? she is almost always having back pain. also what can be done?

Mild S not painful.: Mild scoliosis is not generally painful in itself. It is possible that something else is causing pain in her back which is giving her muscle spasm on one side of the spine giving the appearance of scoliosis.  Alternatively, she may have mild  scoliosis in addition a chronic back pain condition, often from poor posture or deconditioning.  Try PT first, and if not successful, look for other causes.

Sometimes: Patients with moderate to severe scoliosis may develop pain as they age. Depending on the location of the scoliosis and the physical fitness of a person this pain could be mild to severe or contribute to headaches.

i have back pain that doesn't start till i get to my job and i've been sitting a while.  i have had mri and xrays shows mild scoliosis and arthritis.?

Leg length issue?: Compensatory scoliosis cauased by leg-length discrpancy will cause back pain on the side of the longer leg when sitting down.  Also, inflammation is worse when immobility.  See someone in phyiscal medicine or rheumatology!

i was told i have mild scoliosis before.  recently had a tender vertebrae, my back pain now is mainly middle/upper and it bothers my sleeping. it feels my whole back needs to crack and i feel it when breathing deeply. what could this be ?

Get evaluated: Point tenderness over a vertebrae can be evidence of an unusual but worrisome infection. Scoliosis would not be a likely source. I would see you doc as soon as you can arrange it.

? lumbar disc: problems, with pinched nerve causing your symptoms, you want to see your spine specialist again, meanwhile, rest, try to lose some weight, and physical therapy as directed by your doctor, good luck

Mid upper back: Consider muscle spasm and nerve root irritation as possible causes. Strains, sprains are common. Tumors and infectious processes are less common there.

excruciating lower back pain (left side) for months, always hurting. when i get up from sitting position, cannot walk right away. took x-ray. what does non acute findings, early arthritic changes to the lumbar spine and mild curvature, scoliosis mean?

: It means you have early signs of west &amp; tear in the spine, in addition to mild curvature that is consistent with scoliosis. These are not new findings (nonacute) and have likely been there a while. These findings are not uncommon in folks who have no pain, so they may have nothing to do with your pain. Please follow up with a clinician to discuss further evaluation &amp; management of your pain.
