i just told i have mild ectasia of the common bile duct. what does this mean? i have had several months of luq pain and only recently started vomiting

Ectasia = Narrowing: Could be Sclerosing cholangitis. Ask your gastroenterologist, he may want to place a stent

mild dilation interhepatic ducts on left.  do i have to worry? is this a sign of cancer?   they also saw steatosis hepatic with focal non steatosis on hilis. the combination of both findings... is this something scary?

: You did not say why you had the imaging studies, however you obviously have too many fat cells in your liver; and looks like you did not give the full report. Mild dilatation of the ducts may be due to just variability that may not mean something serious however you may want to tune your nutrition and alcohol intake to improve the liver structure. The report did not suggest cancer as it is above.

Nonspecific: I believe that the ductal findings are nonspecific. Sludge in the gall bladder can cause abdominal distress and indigestion. A gastroenterologist would sit down with the radiologist and review the images and decide whether more imaging studies like an MRI or liver biopsy are advisable depending upon your symptoms or lack of symptoms.

: As you know, duct ectasia happens when a milk duct beneath the nipple widens, its walls thicken and it fills with fluid. The duct can then become blocked or clogged with a thick, sticky substance. This can result in a lump or thickening in the nipple or areolar region. Have your doctor or provider evaluate with a history and exam and possible imaging to help confirm this diagnosis.

Pancreatic duct dila: This can happen in chronic  panceatitis,  or if there is a pancreatic neoplasm ( tumor) . Sometimes there are benign tumors in the duct that can eventually become malignant so it is important to check them out.  Technically gallstones that are stuck at the spincter of Vater causing pancreatitis can result in pancreatic duct dilatation as can inflammation post ERCP.

Unable to answer: conclusively based on limited information.  If there is ductal enhancement, DCIS is a possibility.  If the ducts are just dilated without enhancement, it is more likely to be benign duct ectasia.

Abd pain: You might have a  gallstone blocking the common bile duct or have passed on already. You might need to see a gastroenterologist for an ERCP especially if unable to tolerate food. The level of the. Liver function tests and lipase/amylase would help in the diagnosis also.
