As you know, duct ectasia happens when a milk duct beneath the nipple widens, its walls thicken and it fills with fluid. The duct can then become blocked or clogged with a thick, sticky substance. This can result in a lump or thickening in the nipple or areolar region. Have your doctor or provider evaluate with a history and exam and possible imaging to help confirm this diagnosis.
