Bone scan?: Did you have a bone scan done?  Assuming that is the case, a chemical (tracer) is injected into the body and will "light up" anywhere there is increased bone activity (increased tracer uptake).  Causes of intense increased uptake usually are seen with a fracture, some metastatic lesions, and infections of the bone.  Moderate uptake can be seen in arthritic joints such as possibly your hip and back

what does it mean from a bone scan saying a normal pattern of slightly increased tracer uptake is noted in the articular areas and the sternum?

Accepted Answer

Sounds like: they are describing the joints joining you ribs with your breast bone (stenum)  Since there is constant motion  in these joints the bone scan is probably showing that.

Unclear story: Increased tracer uptake may or may not be pathological- arthritic joints in the neck will commonly have increased uptake.  If it is in the vertebral bone itself, that is unusual and would need a "second look".  A "torn labrum" would suggest shoulder pathology, not the neck- you may simply have your terms confused.  Obviously, you had a test done for a reason so need to f/u with the ordering doc.

Hip joint: This means you have mild arthritis.

subcortical foci of increased signal are present suggestive of some sclerosis and marrow reactive changes in the left hip joint.  there is a subcortical cyst in the acetabulum on the right hip measuring 5 mm - what does this mean?

The cyst is: an "incidental" finding of no clinical significance..the "reactive marrow and sclerosis indicates relatively RECENT INJURY to the hip joint or early degenerative arthritis

lose and ct shows increased uptake around the area of the left acetabulum as well as the femoral comp

The : The acetabulum is the "cup."  increased uptake could be caused by loosening, infection or fracture.  Talk to your surgeon about it.

i was diagnosed with mild scoliosis of s shape, and i've pain in my right hip which always come after the joint clicks, it's not severe but what to do?

Depends: If the pain is in the front (groin), it may be the hip joint, and you may want to see a sports specialist who treats hips. If it is in back (buttock), it may be from the back. If exercise and time does not help, see a back specialist.

Hip pain: Hip pain that alternates sides suggests inflammation of the sacroiliac joints. Perhaps an exercise, housework, or yard work is causing irritation of the joints. Ice at night and anti-inflammatory medications may relieve the pain. If the pain persists then see a neurosurgeon or spine surgeon for evaluation.

Back/testicle pain: The two may be connected or may not be. This can be a urinary infection like prostatitis or bladder infection. Or separate back and testicle problems. .  See your doctor

seven months after arthroscopy for fai in my right hip (mild symptoms; normal joint space) i have stage 4 oa. can this be a post-op complication?

Possibly: Unfortunately, it is possible to develop post operative  ( post traumatic) arthritis. How did your arthritis get a stage 4 classificiation? Consult with your orhopedic surgeon and get Rx for antiinflammatory medication.
