Metronida. likely ok: The current thinking is that except for rifampin, other commonly-used antibiotics (like metronidazole and many others) do not alter the effectiveness of birth control pills. This is likely presuming a person is not sick with vomiting or rapid diarrhea, or some other condition that decreases the absorption of a swallowed pill. No it will not.: Metrogel vaginal gel will not interfere with contraceptive effectiveness, provided you take your oral contraceptive correctly and consistently.  However, you can develop severe vomiting and abdominal cramps if you drink alcohol while using metronidazole - less likely vaginally than orally dosed, but alcohol should still be avoided.  Take Care!
