what common side effects can methylprednisolone cause? worried about anxiety or depression effects.

Side effects: Generally, doctors are careful w/ this medication and only use it as necessary since side effects are serious and risks are greater in long term use. Each person may or may not have a wide range and you need to discuss what to watch for w/ the doctor. At the first signs of trouble, you'd report it and either begin to taper or get treatment for the new symptoms. Be hopeful -but be prepared.

i have ms for from 17, i am 28. i had heavy depression after solumedrol (methylprednisolone) (5g infusion), now bipolar affective disorder. is safe gylenia+venlafaxin+thc?

Discuss with doctor: Venlafaxine or other antidepressants may cause mania or hypomania. Thc can complicate treatment of bipolar disorder.  You are already aware that (fingolimod) gylenia is for tx of ms. Notice that you are also a social drinker  which can be problematic with bipolar disorder. Please sit down and discuss this with your physician/ physicians.

Unlikely: While i never say never, and there have been some reports of a depressed mood with fluoroquinolone class antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, it would be extremely unlikely for short course of such an antibiotic to lead to clinical depression. Of course you can feel sad, down, unhappy or irritable simply from being sick.

Probably not azithro: Azithromycin has had a few reports of CNS side-effects, but not the things which you are describing.  Would attribute these to something else.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Absolutely. The medication has a variety of effects. Other people noticed increased alertness, even possibly irritability. In addition to having anti-inflammatory properties - which it looks like is the reason you're taking the medication - one of the other things this drug clas does is mimic and stimulate the body's fight or flight response. And that is consistent with what you're noticing now.

Not long. : There is no contraindication to starting an antibiotic when you,'ve finished if it's indicated.

Urinary frequency: The steroids in the Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack can cause your glucose levels to increase which can in turn cause frequent urination.  Be careful of your glucose and carb intake while taking this medication and make sure you stay up to date with your fasting labs. Good luck

i am on my second pack of microgynon 21 and have started feeling depressed.  could it be the birth control?

Maybe: Some patients experience changes in mood (dysphoria, sadness) when using hormonal drugs. To be sure, discontinue oc with your doctor's approval.  If your mood normalizes, it was probably the oc. Then challenge with another cycle, if mood worsens again, it was the oc. If mood doesn't change with discontinuation, depression was probably unrelated.

on 6 day course of 4mg methylprednisolone pack. what are most common side effects? concerned about weight gain?

Accepted Answer

: Go to Drugs.com and read about your specific pack. Also entrer in any other meds into their interaction checker.   Should not be weight gain in 6 days unless you at more than you burn.
