No. Smoke is toxic.: Toxic means unsafe, or really unsafe. The intentional habit of inhaling burning organic material, combined with various chemicals used in the growing and manufacturing of that material (regardless of whether it is tobacco, marijuana, or any other plant) is bad for the body. Just think about it. Who would intentionally start something burning and inhale the stuff over and over and over?

Unclear: Medical marijuana is legal in several states, and many pts are convinced of benefits in headaches and other pain syndromes.  Yet, research, to convincingly prove benefits in the treatment of pain, are lacking.  Therefore, we may be seeing merely placebo effects due to the effect on mood and behaviour.  Eventually, i suspect that organized medicine will rigorously evaluate this, but no proof so far.

Possible.: Swollen tissue indicates irritation and possible infection. Depending on how tender, swollen the uvula is, you might consider seeing your doc for a throat culture to rule out strep. Most likely it is irritation or viral infec. If it continues, feels reallly uncomfortable &/or is associated with fever, may be systemic bacterial infec or mononucleosis.  No matter what is going on, stop the marajuana.

Not a teratogen: As far as i know it is not teratogenic ( create birth defects) however its not a good idea to smoke anything during pregnancy i can not help in any way.

Yes: In men it can lower testosterone hormone levels and can reduce sperm counts and quality - lower motility (swimming ability) and possibly less ability for the sperm to fertilize an egg. Heavy use is probably worse than occasional use, so it's best for him to quit if possible, or cut down if unable to quit.

No: The usual urine test is for color, ph, cells, presence of blood, glucose, protein, etc.  Detecting marijuana would require a urine drug screen.  Different test entirely.

Maybe: Marijuana can lead to a "heightened" state of awareness (paranoia). This may, in fact, precipitate a panic attack in people who are so predisposed.
