1-2 days: If you wish to protect your stomach when drinking alcohol, you could take Pepcid complete, or zantac (ranitidine) which is otc. It is not advisable to drink more than 2 drinks per day. Also avoid advil, aleve, aspirin.

Why on steroids?: Not sure how to answer your question, especially since you didn't mention why you were put on steroids.

I'm gonna assume the worst, that you had acute alcohol induced hepatitis and were put on a month of a methylpred taper. If this is indeed the case, then my answer is, wait forever. Please don't drink again. If your scenario is not as i imagined, please give more into. :).

Ulcer or gastritis: Alchohol and steroids are both irritating to gastric mucosa. Taken together they are twice as bad.

Bad: Bad for yur stomach, both irritate the lining of the stomach and can cause bleeding.

Do you need to drink: Although the use of alcohol with Medrol (methylprednisolone) 6 day pack is not contraindicated, it does increase your risk of possible pancreatitis, throat and stomach irritation, and additionally raise sugar loads.

Even : Even though there is no "official" interaction between Methylprednisolone (a steroid) and alcohol, we generally recommend avoiding the combo because they can exacerbate each other's side effects.  For example: both steroids and alcohol can cause gastritis and stomach upset, so the two together can make this side effect even more likely and more severe.  Another reason why we generally advise avoiding alcohol with steroids is because some of the illnesses we use steroids to treat (like ulcerative colitis) can be made worse with alcohol consumption.  This may not pertain to you with your rash, though.

If you are still not sure, give your doctor a call.

can i safely take phenergan (promethazine) several hours after drinking (like enough to get mildly drunk)? i know there is an alcohol interaction...

Don't mix 2 sedative: The biggest side effect of phenergan (promethazine) is sedation (sleepiness), which will add to the effects of alcohol. I do NOT recommend taking phenergan (promethazine) until you are completely sober after drinking alcohol.
