The  supplements you question are cocktails of stimulant-like chemicals whose effects (and risks) are much less known. They pose definite risks alone, in combination with Ritalin (methylphenidate) your md can not predict risk (heart, stroke, etc.).

Evidence sketchy: Tyrosine is the precurser for making Dopamine and norepinephrine, both thought to have a role in adhd.  However, taking large amounts of it doesn't necessarily raise brain amounts of these substances enough to make a difference.  Omega 3 is being used for many disorders, including adhd, and may help some but probably best as supplement to standard stimulants.

Both methylphenidate: Although both are methylphenidate, Concerta is a long acting form whereas Ritalin as you have written it is short acting. There is Ritalin la which is a long acting form however. Therefore, the only difference between Ritalin and  Concerta is the duration of action.

As long as there are: No specific cardiovascular risk factors, I have not seen any trouble prescribing adhd medication two people who truly have adhd pissy age of 60 and even in lower doses in their 70s. I think when it comes to this discussion we also have to realize that as people age there adhd or add can often worsen. These people have no reason to have their drivers licenses taken from them. The data in teenagers i believe can be extrapolated into adulthood. Being on an adhd medication can  of car accidents tremendously. Teenagers who were not treated for their adhd have four times the number of car accidents and five times the number of fatal car accidents then those were treated. I believe it to be the same for adults.Not treating can have fatal outcomes as well as outcomes ending in divorce, impulsive abusive of spouses, and many other problems that simply go away when the adhd is properly treated.

It depends...: 18mg is the lowest strength Concerta made. It also comes in 27mg, 36mg & 54mg tabs. 72mg is also recognized as a "normal" dose. But no one dose fits all. It depends what is the right dose for you. Psychoactive meds should generally be titrated until dose is effective without problematic side effects. So, get direction from an expert md, and get a dose that works for you.
