It does not matter: Both work very well. There is limited data to suggest that FluMist might work a little better. Another upside is no injection, but if you want to have FluMist administered and covered by insurance, certain plans do not cover it. Check first.

Just a Brand name: Methylin & Ritalin are brand names for methylphenidate.  Each company picks names apt to appeal to patients and doctors and easy to remember.  Different brands  may have different release patterns, but it is the same medicattion.  Other brand names for mph are concerta, metadate, & focalin (dexmethylphenidate).  There's also Daytrana patch.  Newest is quillivant xr, a liquid long-acting form of mph.

Immediately : Stimulants act by stimulating the cortex in the brain, in add this is like stimulating the brakes in a system. They usually start working short after start. They block the appetite, increase pulse rate and blood pressure and may disrupt sleep , I am not aware of studies that followed people up to adulthood, so we don't how they affect the brain as it develops  from childhood to adulthood.

May Not Need To: The dosing of a medicine like ritalin, (methylphenidate) and its various, forms, often requires adjtustments and monitoring of response. If you see no benefit at a certain dose, you may receive more benefit from a dosage increase, but you would need to work closely with your physician and not adjust the dose on your own.

i took concerta 18 mg xl then 36 mg xl but none worked.  should i change the medication ( in kuwait we only have concerta xl and xr and ritalin (methylphenidate) ).

Concerta: You need to discuss this with your medical provider but you may not be on a high enough dose yet. Some people may respond at 36mg but many will not.

Medicine expired: This medicine is probably not useful to you.  It would not help you to study, and since it is expired, it will probably have no benefit to you as a medicine.  It is best to discard this expired medicine.

my son has been on ritalin for many years and i have been advised to take him off it. i have been told to use a medication called release sce forte. it contains sceletium tortuosum also known as kanna. is this advise worth using?

Son doing ok?: Sceletium is a plant from South Africa. It has a long history of use as a traditional medicine by tribes of SA. It has been used to enhance mood, cause relaxation, and euphoria. Traditionally, the roots and leaves were fermented and then chewed.

The mechanism of action is increase in serotonin , ritalin increases dopamine -so not really the same-no controlled studies

Yes: There are several different medications used to treat add/adhd.  Theses type of medications are controlled substances and need to be closely monitored by your doctor.  Let them know the ritalin (methylphenidate) is not working as well, and they can possibly check what other options are best for you.  Good luck.
