All opiates lower T: Many chronic opiates will lower testosterone. So yes it is very acceptable, to manage low t with hormone replacement if there is no other secondary causes of low t present. Your energy level and libido should improve rapidly. I hope things go well for you.

Breakthru : methadone is a powerful analgesic with a long half life. Oxycodone is a short acting powerful pain medicine to be taken in your case only during a breakthru pain crisis and certainly not  by the clock. Both medicines can cause side effects and even death.  I prescribe this regimen for intractable chronic pain only and monitor for its helpfulness and safety

There is no answer: Concerning the pharmacologic treatment of pain, there really is not "better than" or "as good as". Both drugs are opioids and work by "binding" to opioid receptors in the brain.  I do not personally use Methadone as it has a very high potential for adverse problems thus a low safety profile. Some opioid receptor binders are more affective than others in some individuals.

Neither: Long term use of narcotics carries considerable risk. Of the two, methadone carries the greater risk.

Methadone: Okay there is a problem with this picture - Methadone is a long acting medication and may be very appropriate for chronic pain (it is also used in addiction) - now you have Fentanyl patches - a long acting medication used in pain - why in the world were you given fentanyl patches when you are already on methadone. You cannot and must not use two long acting analgesics together.

why would drs.perscribe methadone 4 drug addicts when they use it for chronic pain patients? just another addiction 2 get addicted too!

Good question: The government chose Methadone to maintain addiction (prevent withdrawals) because it's cheap, it comes in liquid form, and it prevents withdrawals for 24 hours or more. Addicts aren't focused on finding their next fix. They get a chance to solve their problem. It also happens to be a good pain reliever. Part of this complex question is the  big difference between addiction and physical dependence.
