Well, likely not but: It is a dose dependant response. We use post op opiods all the time without an issue.  Did u just start it or we're u on it in pregnancy? What is the dosage? What have u been doing thus far and how has the baby responded? Generally the transfer into breast milk and serum concentration will be low in a baby but it is dose dependant and response based on fetal exposure.  I don't wanna give bad info.

Yes: all opoids are passed through the breast milk to the baby.
In a baby it can cause sedation,cardiac problems and withdrawal symptoms.in a child the half life is 19hrs where it stays in the blood stream of the baby
unless very actively monitored.you should give formula to the baby while you are taking the drug

Probably.: Methadone is a very long acting drug, like 2-5 days.  If you have already been taking 10 mg for a while, an extra 10 should not kill you.  At age 19, i am guessing your heart is in good shape, so the effect on the EKG would be minimal.

Slowly: Because Methadone is a very long acting medication (the half life is 15 to 150 hours) Methadone needs to wean very slowly. I usually recommend one tablet per day per month. For instance, if you are taking 4 tablets per day, then you would wean to 3 per day for a month, then 2 per day for a month, then 1 per day for a month, then 1/2 tablet per month.
