Not known: There is no standard treatment regimen.The first stage, when fat necrosis occurs, many physicians recommend no treatment. Individuals with no symptoms are not treated. Monitored to see whether the disorder progresses (watch and wait). In some cases, the disease may remain at this stage for years or even regress or go away on its own.

See below: Herbs will not help in this situation.  Immunosuppressive agents are often used as well as surgery.  If a biopsy is positive for igg4, you may be a candidate for Rituxan (rituximab) which shown a lot promise with treatment.  Good luck.

i was diagnosed from 2 cts with mesenteric panniculitis.  being so rare no one can tell me much.  i have a gi apt coming up.  ive had pain nausea loss of appetite lethargic. giving steroids much better now.  what can anyone tell me about this?

Inflammation : The fatty tissue that separate the loops of bowel is the mesentary. Trying not to get to complicated the blood supply can sometimes become compromised. Sometimes we do not know the exact cause. But it can hurt. Steroids can be of big help.

Pannus infection: A panniculus is excess fatty tissue and skin that hangs over the lower abdominal wall, related to obesity. The increased venous pressure causes the skin to look like an orange peel, swollen. The area is moist and warm, increases risk of skin infection/paniculitis. Best treatment is steady weight loss, keeping the area clean and dry, wound care if wounds develop, antibiotics for infection.

Watchful waiting: Mesenteric adenitis is usually self limited resolving on its own.  Treatment is supportive- pain management and fluids until it resolves.  More important is differentiating it from more serious intraabdominal conditions such as appendicitis or ovarian cyst rupture.

Antibiotics, wt loss: Panniculitis is an infection of fatty tissue around the waist. In the short term, it is treated with antibiotics. To prevent it from coming back, weight loss or surgical removal is needed.

Pro Heart for dogs: This is an injection for dog heart worm.  I've never heard of it causing panniculitis in dogs.
