No safe day: There's really no such thing as a 'safe' day in one's cycle unless you are doing very strict natural family planning with ovulation predictor kit and you know exactly when you are ovulating.  So, if you missed your period, there's a chance you are pregnant.  Definitely take a home pregnancy test to be sure.

Plan B and cycles: Plan B can alter menstrual cycle for one to two cycles. Expect changes in number of days of cycle for one to two cycles.

: You know by just observing and timing your cycles. Most women's periods are not exactly the same in duration every month. Probably everything is normal if your usual cycles is 26-30 days from month to month. If you have any doubt, see your gynecologist. Good luck.

Later flow date: Your period, based upon the ovulation day if you do not conceive, will be Day 30 or after.

Possible: Although it is unlikely on birth control pills to get pregnant and menses probably slightly delayed, would take pregnancy test.

today marks 8 days late. i took a hpt today and the results were "not pregnant"
i use yaz contraceptives, my cycle has been regular, id get my period on the last active pill but not this time. i am 28 yrs.

Late period ?'s: If you were late starting a new pack of "Yaz", for example waiting after the placebo pills more than a few days, the "HPT" may be a false negative.  Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain. If negative, consult your gyn physician for other testing.

It happens sometimes: Many women have occasional variation of their mucus discharge, some spotting between periods, a heavier period, a lighter period, a longer or shorter period, or even a missed period.  Having one or two of these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean there is a medical problem, but a visit to one’s primary care or Ob-Gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.

Yes: For many women this is a relatively normal pattern.  The key is to monitor for any changes that are different relative to your normal

: If it has been that way for years it may well be the pattern your body has set. Some only have 3-4 menses/yr or have irregular patterns. It is not the "average" pattern 26-35 day pattern many will have. I would not embrace the idea something is wrong, just different. It may make conceiving hard to plan for in your future, but women with this pattern have kids too.

Need gyn eval: Is IUD still in place?  Have you had the same IUD in place that long?  If paragard or copper IUD these usually have to be removed &amp; replaced after 10 years.  If progesterone IUD, they need to be removed and changed each 5 years.  Best to see gyn to be sure no issues of infection or other cause of bleeding (polyps, fibroids, etc).  Best of luck with this.
