Genetics: The size of our bones is largely determined by out genetics. If small hands is something that runs in your family then it is not surprising that you would have this. Remember it is not the size of your hands that is important but how you use them that counts. Be healthy.

Negative : No, it's not possible. Your growth plates all of your bones closed. Boys stop growing at 18-20, but some of them even at 16 depending on ethnicity.

Unlikely: If its on the palmar side of the wrist this could be a ganglion cyst. This will not go away on its own and may require a steroid injection or surgery. You should see a hand surgeon/orthopedic surgeon.

Ganglion cyst: It's probably a ganglion cyst.  This is a fluid filled sac/bursa that usually forms due to a herniation in tendon sheath or joint capsule.  Nearly all of them are benign and they can occur randomly due to microtrauma.  Hope this helps!

Wrist swelling: It sounds like your friend has some type of inflammatory condition. Her primary doctor can order tests to determine what the cause may be (gout, rheumatoid, lupus, etc.).

Synovial cyst: Hello.
The symptoms you mention are concerning for a synovial cyst. These are usually formed after a trauma.

Between bone and bone there are these sort of bags with a thick fluid to avoid corrosion because of the bone to bone contact.
When these synovial "bags" break, they may release their content to the surrounding areas, causing the cysts.

You need to visit an orthopedist.

Varies somewhat: The mechanism by which the circumference of the wrist increases includes the growth of the bones that make up the wrist, the joint spaces in the wrist, and also the soft tissues of the wrist as well.  Bone growth in males can vary quite a bit anywhere usually between 14 and 21.  Muscle and tendon size vary with use.  Even elderly patients can have increase in wrist circumference due to arthritis.

It's Ok: Wrist size can be used as an indicator of body frame size. It will be inaccurate at the extremes of weight though. It is not perfect but it will give you an idea.
