Radial tears (those occurring along the arc of the outer edge of the "moon") can sometimes heal because they are in an area where there is a good blood supply, which is necessary for healing. Other types of tears occurring along the inner arc will not heal as they occur in an area with little or no blood supply.

While waiting for a likely repair, it is prudent to greatly limit any activities that put the knee and meniscus at risk for further injury.

Variable: That depends on a number of factors: 1) allograft or autograft - when using your own tendon (either patellar tendon or hamstring tendon), the donor site (where we get the tendon) typically hurts more than the acl reconstruction. 2) type of acl reconstruction - some surgeons are performing "all-inside" acl reconstructions that have significantly less surgical pain, 3) individual pain tolerance.
