Varied: Bacterial meningitis has a very rapid onset from viral like flu symptoms of headache and body ache to more severe symptoms of headache, blurry vision, vomiting, rash in about 6 hours time.  Viral meningitis has a slower onset of severity and can be hours to days.

Sure of diagnosis?: Are you sure you had bacterial meningitis? Did you undergo a spinal tap &amp; CSF fluid culture which confirmed the diagnosis? You may have just had a severe ear infection or some other condition with symptoms that mimicked meningitis. If you DID have meningitis, hopefully you were treated with the right antibiotics right away &amp; your immune system was strong enough to recover. Not everyone is so lucky

FEVER,HEADACHE,NECK : The symptoms of viral meningitis are fever , headache, upper respiratory symptoms like cogh and  neck stiffnes, congestion, nausea&vomiting.Symptoms are more like the symptoms of influenza and sometimes the diagnosis is missed and patient recovers as no antibiotics are needed
recovery is uneventful and complete in most cases.
