Not possible: If the cervix is closed then there is no physically way one could insert finger inside of the cervix to get to the membranes.

Usually not best: If you are colonized with gbs, we usually do not "strip" membranes since this could lead to an ascending infection.  The good news is that you will receive antibiotics in labor and the risk of obtaining an infection from your gbs presence is very low even with stripped membranes.  The current recommendations are to not do it since there have been a few cases of sepsis implicated with this action.

i am nine months pregnant and i am going in to have the membrane removed from my cervix what does that mean also will it hurt when he removes it

Removing : Removing the membrane from your cervix is also called stripping membranes or membrane sweeping.  Your doctor will place his or her finger into the cervix to separate the bag of amniotic fluid from the uterus. It can be done as part of your pelvic exam. Hormones are released when the membranes are stripped and this can help to soften up the cervix and to start contractions.  It is a method to help induce labor. It is uncomfortable but this is brief. Congratulations on your pending arrival.

No: What's different about the situation you describe is that there has been cervical shortening, which, in and of itself, increases your risk for preterm delivery.  Your cervix is still pretty long, though, at 23mm.  Likely the stitch will be successful at helping to prevent preterm birth.  It's good, as well, that no bulging membranes. Hmmmm.  : Let's see.  You had preterm labor at 29 weeks with twins and are pregnant with triplets?  I'd go for cerclage given the risk of an incompetent cervix is present with 3 babies.  I'm guessing you see a perinatologist?  If that's what she/he is recommending, i'd sign up for it.  Good luck.

Depends : Varies widely. Depends on the technique and how your body responds.

Depends: Depends on what you expected from the membrane sweeping. Studies show membrane sweeping will decrease the likelihood of a patient remaining pregnant more than 1 week beyond their due date. It is not a guarantee of putting you into labor.
