i had a loop recorder implanted 2 weeks ago. i sunbathe everyday for 20 minutes. is this safe with the device? it can direct sunlight damage it?

Safe for device: The loop recorder is under the skin. It will not be harmed by direct sunlight.

Fickle heart: Your heart can be normal for most of the day/night and then suddenly do something bad. A “loop recorder” is there to catch those very seconds/ minutes and record a copy of the electrical abnormality. And anyway, it’s sorta like chicken soup... it couldn’t hurt.

Loop recorder: An implantable loop recorder would not usually be a contraindication to travel. Your doctor is the best source of a recommendation as the full knowledge of your condition is the best basis for a recommendation.

Incision dry? Closed: As long as the incision over the loop recorder is closed, dry, &amp; healed, there shd be no reason u couldn't blow-dry ur chest. Avoid magnets and electricity, however, applied to that area as the metal part of the device is just under the skin.

: There are NO absolute contraindications to doing an EMG study.  The needles, either monopolar, concentric, or single fiber, at worst, might leave a tiny bruise, and the electrical shocks are minimally uncomfortable.  Am perplexed as to the concerns you express.  Do communicate with your treatment team.

Remote monitoring: Modern reveal devices have remote monitoring. The device is equiped with a memory chip to record lot of examples of your heart rhythm (if you have abnormal ones). Sometimes patients are also given a Patient Assistant Model so that they can push a button to mark in time when they have symptoms.

Loop recorder: There should be no problem having an echocardiogram while a loop recorder is in place unless the recorder is placed so as to interfere with the study.

Not unusual: Mild discomfort at the site of implanted devices is not unusual. However significant pain, tenderness or redness is concerning and should be reported to the specialist who performed the procedure.

An MRI machine may aan MRI machine may adversely affect the Data recorded by the loop recorderin addition the strong magnetic field from the MRI machine may cause movement of the device but would not be considered a safety hazar: The loop recorder does not contain any lead wires or conductive material. However the magnetic field produced by an MRI machine may adversely affect the data stored by the implantable loop recorder or and the device should be interrogated prior to undergoing an MRI.The device does contain magnetic components and strong magnetic field associated with the MRI may apply a mechanical force leading to The device does contain magnetic components and strong magnetic field associated with the MRI may apply a mechanical force leading to slight movement of the devicehowever would not be considered a safety hazardThe device itself would not be permanently disrupted however the data recorded by it might be
