Few available RXs: There are several different flus that are labled "swine flu" including the h1n1 that surfaced in april 2yrs ago & a h3n2 strain  now in the northeast I am unaware of what may be labled swine flu now in asia.Anti-virals are one of the few available treatments for active flu & the specific anti-viral may or may not be effective in minimizing the illness. Other meds are directed at secondary problems.

These viruses are called “variant viruses.” both swine and regular flu have similar clinical symptoms. Depending on local resources, some labs have ability to test for non-human influenza viruses. Oseltamivir or zanamivir can be used for treatment. Wash hands often.

Swine flu: There was a major outbreak in 2009-2010. Since then there have really only been sporadic cases, so i wouid say it is not currently very prevalent. It will return however, so keep an eye on public health reports.
