Nail fungus: There are few really effective topical agents for nail  fungus .  Nail fungus doesn't happen right away , so if you have arrived in china recently , you had it when you left .  Seek help from the american consulate - perhaps there is an american doc there that can help .  There is no way we can know what  agents are available there  - or if they are even safe .

Medications: There are a number of different medications that may be prescribed to treat toe nail fungus.  The oral medications are often the strongest but can be more expensive &amp; have more potential for side effects. I don't know how apt medical providers in  Britain are to try that route. Would discuss further with your physician. There is a new medication that can be painted on nails that is an option too.

No: Over the counter medications..I.E. Topical meds are completely worthless.

Sometimes: The more extensive the nail involvement the more difficult it is to cure. Oral medications are about 60 per cent effective and take 1 year for thr nail to grow out. Lasers can be used but it is unclear if the results will last beyond 2 years. A safe alternative to oral medications which works in a subgroup is oral olive leaf extract.
