Certainly people who are ill may have a variety of manifestations of the illness, and in addition, antibiotics can predispose one to secondary infections, like thrush, which can be very unpleasant.

Clarithromycin: Clarithromycin has a 24 hour and 12 hours formulation. I usually use the 500mg every 12-hour formulation for the treatment of h pylori and know that to be the standard way to treat it.
