CT scan: Ct scan of the brain is the best analysis for basilar skull fracture.
The bone windows supplied with the ct scan are where we find the fractures of the base of the skull.  If we need more detailed images, we have fine-cut ct's of the skull performed.

Basilar skull fx: Basilar skull fracture is usually due to blunt trauma to the back of the head. It has unusual features besides from severe headache. Bruises may appear under the eyes ("raccoon eyes"), there may be bleeding behind the ear drum (only seen with an otoscope), and there may be clear watery fluid (CSF) running out the nose. You can also lose your sense of smell and have severe dizziness.

Over 90% of patients recover without long-term effects.

Skull base fracture: A basilar skull fracture is a fracture at the base of the skull.  It can be associated with "raccoon eyes, "  blood behind the ear drum or behind the ear.  There can be a leakage of cerebrospinal fluid and the possibility of  infection travelling in to cause meningitis.  There can also be associated damage to nerves or blood vessels as they travel through the bone of the skull base.

6-8 weeks: The skull fracture itself will heal just like any other bone in the body and usually take 6-8 weeks.  The actual symptoms however, may persist depending on the extent of injury to the underlying brain tissue.

The most significant part of the injury is the concussion to the back of the head, which usually resolves. ????: This is a hard, or impossible question to answer.  Has it been established that you have this, or are you assuming this but have been told you don't have this???  This is extremely rare, and is diagnosed by sx of head pain when standing.
