Blood under the skin: When the base of the skull breaks, the force required will cause some bleeding. This blood can track to a nearby surface, under the skin. The most likely areas are underneath the eyes in the soft tissue of the lids, and behind the ear-on the falt surface of the mastoid bone. You can also leak fluid for mthe nose or ear, if the brain covering is torn.
