What you need to: know first is the diagnosis: what is the cause of your esophageal pain? Presume you have chest/upper abdominal pain and believe it is esophageal. While elaborate tests may not be needed, you need to present your symptoms to a doctor for a diagnosis to be made. If reflux or dyspepsia, then trial of anti-acids, acid (H-2) blockers or acid release inhibitor (PPI) needed with diet/weight loss.

DGL is used to: help with acid reflux and is safe.  If you take licorice that is not DGL, over time it can raise your blood pressure.  Please consult w/your doc.  Peace and good health.  Apple  cider vinegar needs to be diluted w/water.  Too strong otherwise.  DGL is simplest.

Esophagus: You have some GERD. Gastro esophageal reflux.
Heartburn. Ant acids are first choice. Then H2 blockers like Zantac or proton inhibitors like protonix (pantoprazole). Whatever works best for you. As a last resort, if you symptoms are really bad, surgeons have a cure

what my mom said when i was born the doctor told her i have narrow esophagus. i am with kaiser i wonder why they didnt noticed it. i ate food and it comes back up. medicine dont work. i was told i have hypersensitivity esophagus. what can be done?

: I am not sure if it was true what your pediatrician told your mom . For the current symptom, your Kaiser primary care team should refer you to a GI doctor for further investigation if it has not been done. I do not believe the diagnosis of "hypersensitivity esophagus".

22, just had endoscopy i have gastritis, inflamed stomach & esophagus & an ulcer, what are meals i can eat while taking my medicines until im better?

Gastritis : Avoid spicy foods, chocolate, mint, carbonated drinks, coffee. Stop smoking. Lose weight if you are overweight with a large abdomen. Don't eat for at least 3 hours before bedtime. Cabbage helps heal the stomach. You may need to avoid vitamins or/and dairy depending on the medications you are taking.

could an edoscopic investigation that shows lesion in lower esophagus with some ulceration and gastritis be caused by anti-inflammatory drugs or more likely be cancer in 78 yr old male.

Family practice : Use of anti inflammatories can cause gastritis and esophageal ulcers  but the lesion in your age group is bothersome. Wait for biopsy report and follow up with your dr. Stop your NSAID until seen.

i have barrets esophagus and had an ablation on october 24th. i am curious if smoking marijuana is harming me or if i can continue. i do not drink or use any other drugs. i take my ppi every morning before my meal - the checkup isn't for 4months?

: Marijuana can definitely worsen GERD. In addition many studies are pointing out various other deleterious effects from weed. Do yourself a favor and abandon the practice of using it.
