I have barrets esophagus and had an ablation on october 24th. i am curious if smoking marijuana is harming me or if i can continue. i do not drink or use any other drugs. i take my ppi every morning before my meal - the checkup isn't for 4months?

Marijuana can definitely worsen GERD. In addition many studies are pointing out various other deleterious effects from weed. Do yourself a favor and abandon the practice of using it.

Smoking marijuana has been shown to decrease the resting pressure of the sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus, which allows acid to leak up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing increased amount of GERD and worse damage to the esophagus. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug and will mess with your brain and damage your lungs among other injury. MJ users are called stoners for good reason. Quit using it while you are ahead. Wish you good health!
