Allergy symptoms: Allergy symptoms are varied and may include hives, itchy, swelling, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, wheezing, throat swelling, shortness of breath, stomach pain, vomiting or diarrhea. When people are allergic to a food most reactions occur soon after ingestion. It is doubtful that someone is allergic to ascorbic acid although it is possible to react to citrus fruits.

Need more info: I am not sure what the question relates to. Ascorbic acid (vitamin c) levels are normally not checked. If someone is taking a high dose of vit c, a level might be checked, but I am more interested in why the vitamin and what resources are used for dosing. Some physicians such as dr linus pauling recommend huge dosages (10, 000 mg), other experts 500 mg. Can cause diarrhea maybe kidney stones.

There are several studies that point towards Ascorbic Acid helping those with headaches, but headaches are a known side-effect of large doses of ascorbic acid.

Safe to take: There really shouldn't be any side effects  at that dose.  That is the recommended dose for many brands of over the counter vitamin c supplements.  As with any pill/drug/supplement you may have upset stomach from taking it or have an allergic response to it.  Alwys check with your doctor before starting any supplement to ensure that it is safe for you to take.  Hope this helps.
