Person getting care: The person getting medical care pays for his doctors, his tests, and his medicines . . . Because he is getting the services. However, as a community and a society, we want to have the healthiest, happiest population possible. So, there are insurance, governmental, and non-profit systems set up to help everybody afford good medical care without causing financial hardship (idealistically speaking!).

Do some patients: " beat the odds"? . I think a patient's belief system & trust in medical providers are factors in survival or recovery from diseases, especially ones that are debilitating  or have a high mortaliy rate. Studies of efficacy of psychotropic medications often show a "placebo effect;" some patients improve on "sugar pills" & extra medical attention. But i'm an old " high-touch, low-tech" doctor.

Kinda: Not feeling remorse manifests in several physical conditions.  For example, people that have no remorse will maintain a normal heart rate and not perspire as much in certain situations.  In psychiatry, conduct disorder in kids and antisocial personality disorder in adults carry lack of remorse as a hallmark.
