A piece of cervix: If you have to have a cone biopsy, it is usually done by the leep method and usually in the office.Rarely it is done in the hospital. I do 99% of mine in office. A piece of cervix is removed and sent to the pathology doctor so he can see whether you just have pre cancer or cancer rarley it is done with a knife and sttiches. In most cases the problem is removed, but you will need more monitoring.
