Often: The speech center is on the left side of the brain so a stroke on that side is very likely to affect speech.

Depends...: It depends on how much volume of the brain was damaged, how severe the damage is, and where the damage occurred.  Maximizing physical and occupational therapy is very important, as well as optimizing the medical situation.  Discuss with neurologist and primary care provider.

Echo: An echocardiogram alone shows muscle function, valve function , and whether the valves are leaking or tight. It does not tell you if you have blocked arteries. If you combine it with a stress test it can tell if you have blockage. A plain normal echo does not mean you can't have a heart attack.

you say he is recovering  and left side is weak which is not unusual after stroke
he may benefit from physical therapy, discuss with his doctor.
I am sorry we can not advice more than that we do not know the details about his other coexisting conditions. Needs to control hi bp, cholestero, sugar if he has diabetes&take meds for secondary preve.

Severe illness: This is multiorgan failure, and the outlook is not great, but the only way to assess this is to be the doctor in charge of managing the patient. In addition to determining the therapy there should be discussions on end of life decision making. Hope this was helpful.

Duration of Stroke: It seems to be a very small stroke, but there can be temporary swelling of brain, of which you say the pressure was released. Usually it takes about 6-12 month to regain, function, after which the problem is more or less permanent. Stroke rehab does wonderful and almost miraculous results. I strongly emphasize stroke rehab.

warfarin for stroke and heart attack
has had another stroke and blockage seen on brain scan and swelling left side of brain how come  while on so many thinners is it possible?

hi im on antiplatelet meds for prev double stroke 31 may . followed 4wks by dissection of cerebral arterys, nonruptured,now struggeling with pain area in left calf but cant see any prob, it was a left stroke effecting right side.another clot forming?

: If you are having new pain in your left calf, you need to be seen by a doctor who can examine the area and rule out blood clot -- especially given your history of recurrent stroke.
