Few milimeter or mor: Ct scan can pick rectal mass from few milimeters to a centimeters.Preferably method would be rectal exam with finger/sigmoid/colonoscope.

is it normal to be able to feel your cervix through your rectum? i can identify my cervix vaginally - low, firm, central canal. however, i feel the same thing in the anterior part of rectum. is this my cervix i'm still feeling or a gi mass?

: You could if you have a sensitive finger. However, I wonder why you examined you rectum in the first place.

i feel a big, lumpy mass underneath my rectum wall. could i be feeling a structure in my body or is it actually a mass. internal hemorrhoid, thrombosed hemorrhoid, a possibility? what are the chances that this is cancer?

Rarely cancer.: This requires a thorough exam by your family physician.  Your details indicate this could be a skin cyst.  A hemorrhoid could be present.  Sometime a vaginal mass may extend to that surface.

see your doctor: At 24 years of age, this is likely stool impaction rather than a cancer, but if you are unable to defecate and indeed you cannot pass whatever is in your rectum, you need to see a physician.  If it is impaction, manual disimpaction with or without enemas may help.  If this is from a mass, then this need urgent evaluation. This is not a hemorrhoid, they are not hard unless the are thrombosed.

Can't tell: Although cancer is a probable problem one cannot tell for sure until a biopsy has been obtained.  The ER doctor is not equipped to do the biopsy.

A thrombosed: (clotted) hemorrhoid is the most likely diagnosis. This is due to blood clotting in one of the small veins surrounding the anal opening (external) or rectum (internal) The ONLY way of being sure is an exam. Your Family Physician, GYN or PCP will be able to tell.. and suggest treatment!
