i have thyroid problems but i haven't been placed on any meds. yet is it possible for me 2 be able to smoke marijuana and have thyroid medication?

It is possible: If you have low thyroid hormone levels, it may make you feel depressed, tired, u may gain weight, feel slow, dry skin,  increased sleep, etc.  Although, using marijuana and taking thyroid medication is possible and there are no serious interactions, but marijuana may  make u feel depressed, eat more, sleep more. Marijuana can lead to paranoia and hallucinations. Marijuana is illegal in most states.

You could, but don't: Marijuana considered a gateway drug and its use leads to opiate abuse. Symptoms include the acute effects like: euphoria, relaxed inhibitions, increased appetite
disoriented behavior, chronic use symptoms include: amotivational syndrome, aimless, uncommunicative. Withdrawal symptoms include: anorexia, insomnia, anxiety, depression.
It can mask the benefits from thyroid medications.

hi, i had my thyroid removed last year due to papillary ca, and im currently on levothyroxine. just wanted to ask if recreational drugs (i.e. marijuana) would have an interaction with euthyrox? i read online that its safe but i want to make sure?

Accordingly, regular cannabis consumption was associated with only minor effects on thyroid function tests in serum. While the TSH-levels remained stable, total T4- and total T3-levels were found to be significantly lower in chronic cannabis smokers, when compared with nonsmokers

: Not safe. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug and will mess with your brain. MJ users are called stoners for good reason.

hello, i'm going to have thyroid surgery soon, i'm a marijuana user, they told me to take a urine test, will it show that i'm a marijuana user? i am a bit uncomfortable with the doctor?

: Pre-operative urine testing is routine and looks for evidence if kidney disease or poor function that could lead to surgical complications. Such testing would not screen for marijuana use. In my state you must sign a waiver before anyone can test your blood or urine for drugs, unless it is expected as part of a pre-employment physical.

Unlikely : Though certain thyroid conditions can cause both hypo and hyper thyroidism at one point or another, both cannot exist at the same time. It would be like saying your gas tank is full and empty at the same time. At this time there aren't any conclusive studies showing that chronic marijuana use directly affects thyroid function. However, marijuana does affect other hormones.

Confusion: Mental status changes can take place. Be sure to generate a list of all meds and herbals and street drugs to distribute to all of your physicians to make sure that no medication dosing takes place without all informed.

Jury is out: The jury is out on marijuana and head and neck cancers.  There is conflicting data on this and and very few studies.  No association has been found between marijuana smoking and lung cancer.  Again, though, not many studies have been completed.  There are carcinogens in marijuana so be wary.  There just isn’t enough data at this point to feel confident yet in these relationships
