Accepted Answer

Stable: You must be in a stable position before this surgery, or there will not be any reference position for positioning and no stability. Also, after healing the displaced disks might not reposition properly and the surgery will have been for naught. Get stable first. Often this requires splint therapy (24/7) for 6-8 months or as long as it takes to recapture and reposition the disks. 2nd opinion.

dental pros: which kind of crown would be better on root-canalled #6 tooth: lava zirconium or pfm w/ metal back? also, would you recommend a mandibular advancement device for sleep apnea & bruxism, or could it harm the crown or cause other problems?

Occlusion: As anOrthodontist I will leave the choice of restoration to my Restorative Dentist colleagues.  As to mandibular advancement appliances for sleep apnea, they can negatively affect your occlusion.  Do your homework before deciding on the practitioner that has the best answers for your problems.

: If your sleep apnea is obstructive and you are overweight, losing weight, not easy. is the better approach.

Analog insulins: newer analog insulins, such as Lispro (Humalog), Aspart (Novolog), Gulise (Apidra) are in a monomers form. Hence these are rapidly absorbed into the blood stream, making the onset of action much quicker. Also their effect lasts for much shorter periods. For these reasons these insulin analogs generally give better post-meal  glucose, with lower incidence of hypoglycemia

Neurourology: Management of symptoms with nerve based therapies are the most recent advancement.  Injecting botox into the bladder or stimulating the sacral nerve root with a sort of bladder pacemaker.

These two are the best new options for OAB, incontinence.

Huntington disease: There is a new drug approved in 2008 called tetrabenazine for huntington disease and is quite effective medication and low side effect profile.

Fist, with the increase in the number of dental implants placed, better designs, surfaces, choices with dental implant fixtures as well as restorative options and techniques. Secondly, additives such as growth factors to increase the success of bone grafting and regeneration.
