Vitamin D: A vitamin D level of 29 is not low. Go to your pharmacy and purchase over-the-counter vitamin D tablets either 1000 or 2000 mg per tablet - your choice. They are not expensive - much less expensive than a vitamin D lab test.

Probably normal: Lower limit of normal for magnesium is 1.8 meq per liter which translates to 0.9 mmol per liter so this could be normal but better to check with the lab that drew it and ask for their normal values.

No need to worry: 99% of magnesium in our bodies is inside our cells ; less than 1% in our blood so serum mag. Is not a good indicator of overall mag. Status. Your blood level is still normal. Magnesium toxicity is extremely rare ; generally only occurs in those with kidney failure, so unless you have kidney failure there is no need for concern. You might still even have magnesium deficiency!

would compression brace help calf cramps and how does it help? magnesium helped me some too. any other suggestions for things to try that are over the counter? no blood clots. potassium and magnesium were within normal range  by labs.

Leg cramps: Its worth continuing the magnesium supplement as we only measure extracellular levels but the intracellular levels may be reduced. If cramps occur in the calves, stretching of the calves may prevent them. Quinine, which is in some tonic waters, are helpful for some people.I haven't found that compression stockings prevent leg cramps, but daily stretching of calf muscles often help.

Normal near high tho: Would avoid mag pills and maalox mylanta since they have mag too. Higher mag levels have the potential of causing irregular heart rhythm.

Magnesium levels: There most certainly is magnesium found in the blood. In normal blood, level is 1.7 to 2.2 mg/dL.

Not long enough: A magnesium level of 1, 9 is normal. Magnesium is not easily absorbed and you will need to be taking supplement longer to increase level. If you are having no problems, I do not see any medical reason to increase you magnesium intake.

Not known to, but...: Rare, idiosyncratic reactions to any med can occur. Likely unrelated, look elsewhere first.

See below.: Not sure why this was tested to begin with. Measurement of mg has a very limited role in outpatient clinical practice.

Makes me wonder if somebody thought something was wrong with you. In that case it might be reasonable to repeat test, but if it was just part of a shotgun lab evaluation i would not repeat.
