Blood mucous: Go back to the er and have them evaluate you. There was a reason they gave you an enema. Blood per rectum could be serious or a minor problem. Without an evaluation, you will not know. Do so, as soon as possible.

What's the cause?: Doctors define constipation as stools less frequently than once every 3-4 days. Patients feel they are "constipated" when passing hard or small volume stool, or they feel full &amp; bloated. Had an x-ray to show you're not blocked?  We don't know if your gut is sluggish or your rectum works correctly, or if there is something extrinsic to the gut causing problems. Time to call your doctor for help.

Common protocol: This is a commonly used protocol for cleaning out the bowel. The fact that it is available in many areas over the counter gives you an idea of how safe it is.The  most common effect is you go to the bathroom a lot and it often makes you very loose.

OIC: You have opioid induced constipation (OIC) and have failed regular options- you need to take naloxegol which is specific for OIC. Taken as 25mg per day - this will help as it reverses the effects of the opioid on the bowels

Family medicine: Not sure why you would go to the er for a primary care problem. But this is something that your family doctor needs to help with or to get you in to a specialist. Your question is the very definition of when you need to be seen at the family clinic.

Constipation: go to the emergency department, you need an x-ray and possibly CT scan to "see" what is wrong.

: Typically, Opiate meds are only required for several days after appendectomy surgery. Longer use should be discouraged. Talk to your Dr about switching to Motrin 600mg. Once you stop using the opiates, constipation should resolve. Continue drinking 2.5 liters of fluids daily and eating a diet high in fiber. Take Mag Citrate only if you have not stooled for 2+ days.

Magnesium & anxiety: Magnesium deficiency can produce symptoms of anxiety & depression, like muscle weakness, fatigue, eye twitches, apprehension, nervousness, and rapid pulse.  Serotonin depends on magnesium for its production & function.  Talk w/your doctor first, but 150mg twice daily of magnesium citrate, taurate, or glycinate may be helpful.  If diarrhea, split the doses up more.

Consult a psychiatrist.
