They are different : Salts of magnesium. The magnesium citrate may be absorbed a little better, but if you take too much of either one, you might end up with loose stools. So talk with your PCP about which one S/he recommends for you to take right now.

Bone supplements: The most important bone supplements are calcium and vitamin d. 1200 calcium1000 vitamin d to help prevent osteoporosis.  Other supplements like magnesium are just adjuncts but not very useful by themselves.

Not sure BUT...: Glad you are increasing your food intake. 99% of our magnesium is within our cells so it has to be really low to have such a low serum level. Magnesium oxide is a TERRIBLE choice- it is only about 4% absorbed. Much better options are magnesium glycinate, chloride and (my favorite) taurate. Depends: You may consider potassium magnesium aspartate in combination with taurine.
Make sure you see a cardiologist to rule out serious heart problems. But if not cause can be found, chances are it may be an electrolyte imbalance. Potassium and magnesium are commonly low.

Magnesium oxide is poorly absorbed.

Take magnesium rich foods- avocado,banana,spinache,cashew,almonds,dark chocolate,tofu,pumpkin seeds,sunflower seeds,beans,brown rice &amp; molasses.
Magnesium is vital for body- responsible for 400 cellular reactions.

Electrolyte balance: If you are having difficulty maintaining electrolyte balance while taking chlorthalidone you should discuss possibly taking an alternative blood pressure medicine with you doctor.

took magnesium citrate (300ml) & now worried because i take a daily magnesium oxide supplement. i feel very nauseous & my stomach hurts after drinking the mag.citrate. will this lead to hypermagnesemia? my serum lvl was 2.3 last year. i'm worried.

Probably ok: Skip your daily magnesium today and tomorrow. The nausea and cramping likely due to effect of mag citrate.
