Q: are you supposed to be able to feel lymph nodes in your groin? im confused whether or not youre supposed to feel them or if its normal to feel them. if i feel them does that mean theyre enlarged or can you just feel them in certain people?

Groind nodes: Everybody has this. Insignificant and unimportant. Don't keep examining yourself: repeated prodding and poking might cause pain and enlargement, making it seem more important. Don't worry about it.

Lymph Nodes: Not really. They may become tender though in inflammatory states or when a patient is sick with infection.

Everywhere: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.

What patient thinks : 87 yr old could be very  healthy and functional,  need to be treated  just same as young person, but how ever quality of life in elderly equally important  , patient should decide , if he can not , too ill to decide  not going for extraordinary measures is not considered a neglect .Physicians will encourage for such decisions , make end part of life as comfortable as possible.

hard, fixed lymph nodes in neck. u/s stated nodes appeared normal. can u/s distinguish a hard node from soft node? can u/s detect nhl?

Neck masses: Other than lymph nodes in neck are commonly thyroid nodules, branchial cleft cysts, lipomas.  If you can feel these masses in your neck, have your doctor order a ct or mri.  Ultrasound is particularly good at telling whether a mass is solid or cystic, not hard or soft.

is it normal for lymph nodes to swell on both sides of the neck? i dont feel sick and they dont hurt. its just a fullness feeling.

Bilateral lymph node: swelling is not normal and should be evaluated by a health care professional even if you do not feel sick. Make an appointment today.

Depends: It is sometimes nice to know what the anatomy looks like.  It can also help the person doing the procedure.  In addition, if there is something abnormal that is amenable to needle biopsy, then it may obviate the need for a bronchoscopy.  Hope this helps.

This is: significant growth however other tests besides biopsy at this point may be necessary as first steps in your diagnosis.

what causes your pelvic lymph nodes to swell? on my right side one of them is swollen, theres no pain but i can see it. what causes it?

: You probably mean the inguinal area (groin). (Pelvic nodes are inside the abdomen.) If quite large, like an inch or more in diameter, see a doctor. If smaller and remains nontender, maybe get it checked out if it persists a week or more. An STD may be possible, or a minor infection on the leg or foot. Cat scratch disease, if you own or exposed to a cat. Get checked ASAP if at risk for STD.
