What patient thinks : 87 yr old could be very  healthy and functional,  need to be treated  just same as young person, but how ever quality of life in elderly equally important  , patient should decide , if he can not , too ill to decide  not going for extraordinary measures is not considered a neglect .Physicians will encourage for such decisions , make end part of life as comfortable as possible.

Many things: Many causes for enlarged nodes, both malignant and not. You need to see a doc for a good physical exam and maybe additional tests. Do it asap. Best to you.

does people have lymph nodes they can feel? i can feel one on neck but not on the other side same location. i'm scared i have tonsil cancer.

Lymph nodes...: Lymph nodes are a normal component of the immune system. The react to local infection, inflammation and even cancer by enlarging.  The most common cause for lymph node enlargement in the neck region is infection.  A worrisome lymph node is one stay stays enlarged. A physical exam by your doctor can help determine why your lymph node is enlarged.

can very slim people feel their lymph nodes as peas in locations such as the neck and groin etc? even when their not swollen/reacting to anything?

Head/neck lymph node: They are typically small, less than 1.0 cm and not easy to feel. Greater than 1.0 cm is considered enlarged. Lymph nodes often react to acute or chronic inflammation in the area they drain, which in the occipital area is typically the scalp.  See an ENT for a good head and neck exam and further work--up, as necessary.

2 yo has two small bumps on back of head near bony prominence. they feel like lymph nodes but don't move. i their not nodes b/c location. any ideas?

Bumps : The bumps on the back of the childs head may be the ocviput bone you are feeling.

Biopsy: Generalized lymphadenopathy needs to get quick attention , there are several causes and lymphoma is one possible cause , only examination and texture is not adequate to make diagnosis. Need biopsy and pathology exam to make diagnosis . Need to see doc quickly.

HIV unlikely: To have HIV transmission there must be fluid transfer from one person to the next.  If you had safe sex HIV would be very unlikely.  Swollen lymph nodes can be seen in a large number of viral illnesses as well as with bacterial infections.  See you doctor.

Can be close: Both the nodes and the hernia can be in the canal. They're distinguished by physical findings, not so much location. You're less likely to find the nodes if the hernia is in the scrotum.

jan 22nd i experienced a very severe pain in my rlq. i received a colonoscopy- came back normal. ct scan showed swollen lymph nodes in stomach, elevated white blood cell count, appendix normal. recurring pain has not improved. whats going on?
