i have finger deformity in right hand of absence of middle phalanx & joint and a severe finger fracture in the distal phalanx and joint, what treatment options do i have please ? who should i ask a plastic surgeon or orthopedic for surgery ?

: A surgeon would need to see the hand to evaluate what sort of surgeries are possible. Your best bet would be to see an actual hand surgeon, if possible. Good luck.

Yes: With the numbness and tingling I would suspect a nerve issue - carpal tunnel or impingement at the c-spine.

48 y/o new onset raynauds (same finger (middle) both hands.  ana 1:80 homogenous, 1:80 speckled. rheumatoid factor 103- swollen (ring finger) one hand for 2 weeks, pain in feet and toes after rest.  lupus, lyme and thyroid ruled out- thoughts?

Raynauds: Your ANA level is nonspecific. The Raynaud's phenomenon is the secondary type-- related to the RA and I agree not lupus. Your RA is quite symptomatic and requires more aggressive treatment. I assume you're being treated and followed by a rheumatologist. He/she can advise you best.

: Your posted question is interesting but likely not one that anyone can answer. I know of no physician in the US that would consider this a worthwhile project &amp; want to be involved. If you want any form of transplant and are not willing to go anti-rejection meds it would never happen. Many finger deformities can be modified by well trained hand surgeons. This would not require those meds.

A visible difference: Any difference in size , motion or rotation when compared to the finger on the opposite hand.

Accepted Answer

Could be permanent: Unless properly splinted, casted, or taped by an expert, there could be permanent deformity. Even if "perfectly" aligned, there can be callous formation causing swelling on the bony fracture heal line. If there is angulation or visible deformity at present, see a plastic surgical or orthopedic specialist in hand surgery and get the correct x-ray diagnosis of problem or not! good luck!

Yes: The hand deformity of lupus is reversible.  Exercises guided by an occupational therapist should be helpful.

Dime sized lesions: Excellent question.  I would see a Dermatologist ASAP  full history and exam. If lesions are on the palms of the hand or soles of the feet secondary syphilis should be ruled out/other causes.If the lesions are the size of a dime erythema multiforme may be a more likely diagnosis. However, in person exam with lab testing important. SLE/Lupus variants are diagnosed w lab tests, valid SLICC criteria

had tendon repair surgery 11 days ago for zone 2 pinky finger injury. in splint & occupational therapy for next 6 weeks & stitches come out tomorrow. finger still quite stiff feeling. normal? how long before stiffness subsides & it loosens up?

: You're experiencing normal postop stiffness. It can go on for weeks. Hopefully you'll eventually regain full range of motion. Your hand surgeon who knows the full extent of your injury and type of repair will advise you best.

ana +ve since 8 yrs.recently pain in the fingers upon pressure for 1 month and once there was red line on cheeks lasted1 hr, dr said not lupus.help?

Relax.: Many healthy people have a positive ana, for unknown reasons. Some even "toggle" back and forth between positive and negative. If your doctor has ruled out lupus, relax. Your doctor should be able to run some tests to determine the cause of your finger tenderness.
